Security wall update

Greetings,

The security wall is just about complete, we've started laying the razor wire and the place is looking like a FORTRESS. We even expanded the yard by enclosing property that was formerly excluded by the old wall, which we destroyed. You can see the new bright green gate, and the remains of the old rusty gate, which we're in the process of demolishing with a massive hammer. Good times!

The next few days will be spend dealing with all the leftover material and landscaping.

Lake Ol Bolosat

You may be wondering, have I been birding? I have been hella birding, on weekends at least. This is a wood owl we found in our camp when I was partaking in a waterbird survey for the National Museum. Its pretty much an African version of a barred owl.

Almost done

The security wall is almost complete. Thanks to all who've donated through http://www.longonoteducation.org/donate.html

There is not enough to buy the property but we've raised at least enough for them to be secure for the next several years. With the wall, soon to have barbed wire, and a Maasai guard, the children, Omari, Auntie Becky and Momma Moraa can now sleep peacefully at night and not worry about what they're going to eat the next day.

Here are some pictures of the progress. As for myself, I've been trying my hand at being a stone mason. I made 16 bricks but I'm amazed at the rate at which these fundis can pump out the bricks! Its hard work, too. Enjoy these pics and God bless.

Thanks to Martha Nzisa for these amazing colouring books on Vultures! Who knew they could be so colourful.
